Si tratta del loro quinto lavoro, dopo il quale hanno purtroppo annunciato lo scioglimento del gruppo. Il che è un gran peccato. Tra l’altro nel CD c’è un’interessante parte multimediale, che tra le altre cose ci permette di vedere come sono (o erano) i La Desooorden dal vivo. La Desooorden sono sette musicisti: Alfonso Banda Mayor (chitarra elettrica ed e-bow); Fernando Altamirano Barria (voce); Francisco Martin Subercaseaux (basso, corno, didjeridoo, birimbau); Henry Véliz Matus (tromba); Karsten Contreras Kusch (voce, didjeridoo e una serie di strumenti etnici); Peter Pfeiffer Jakob (sassofoni e flauto andino) e Rodrigo Gonzales Mera (batteria e percussioni). Ci sono poi alcuni ospiti che contribuiscono con violini, ulteriori trombe, cori... e un paio di bambini che piangono. L’album è incentrato sul Sudamerica. E sui sogni. In sedici tracce (tre o quattro delle quali praticamente solo rumoristiche ma comunque molto atmosferiche), ci facciamo un’idea delle varietà di quel continente; i La Desooorden dipingono con la musica dei paesaggi straordinari, a volte spaventosi ma sempre sentiti, vivi, imponenti. Non c’è una singola nota fuori posto, una singola esagerazione in questo CD. Ci sono dei momenti che fanno ripensare ai King Crimson degli inizi (“Ayahuasca”), altri richiamano i Deep Purple (“El perro que me guía alegre”), e qui e là ci sono passaggi nei quali si mescolano magistralmente il rock progressivo e la musica andina più tradizionale, i cui esponenti più noti in Italia sono forse gli Inti Illimani. Una band non molto nota dalle nostre parti ma che sicuramente merita di essere conosciuta. E un disco strepitoso. Speriamo che cambino idea riguardo allo scioglimento. ============================================= After five years since their last record, the Chilean band La Desooorden (three “O”) is back with “El andarín”, “The Wanderer”. It is their fifth album, after which they have unfortunately announced the break-up of the band. What a pity. By the way, the CD contains a multimedia section that, amongst other interesting things, also gives us a chance to experience what La Desooorden are (or were) on stage. La Desooorden are seven: Alfonso Banda Mayor (electric guitar and e-bow); Fernando Altamirano Barria (vocals); Francisco Martin Subercaseaux (bass, horn, didjeridoo, birimbau); Henry Véliz Matus (trumpet); Karsten Contreras Kusch (vocals, didjeridoo and several traditional instruments); Peter Pfeiffer Jakob (saxophones and reed flute) and Rodrigo Gonzales Mera (drums and percussions). And then there are a couple of guests with violins, more trumpets, backing vocals... and two children crying. The record is about South America. And dreams. In sixteen tracks (three or four of which are pretty much only noises – still extremely atmospheric though) we get an idea about the variety of that continent. La Desooorden paint with their music extraordinary landscapes; sometimes they can be frightening but they are all heartfelt, alive, imposing. In this CD there is not a single note out of place, not a single passage that goes over the line. Some moments reminded me of the early King Crimson (“Ayahuasca”), others have something of Deep Purple (“El perro que me guía alegre”), and here and there we find episodes that mix masterfully progressive rock and the more traditional music from the Andes, that in Italy we got acquainted to thanks to Inti Illimani above all others. This band is not very well known in our country, but it really should. And this is an amazing record. I honestly hope they change their mind about breaking up the band.
